• When's the next Carrie Thorne book coming out?
  • I'm so glad you asked. That totally wasn't a question I added myself because I hoped you would ask ;). Check out the Books section of the site. I try to list this area by publication date, so the most recent is right on top to satisfy your voracious reading. 
• How can I read free romance ebooks and download ebooks for free that are entirely sanctioned by Carrie Thorne and not piracy? 
  • Like how I did that? SEO here we go. Anyone searching for a free steamy romance novel ebook download might just land on this page. And, yes, I do offer free books! I usually have the first books in a series free to attract new readers. Six is a free paranormal romance, and All the Days After is a free contemporary small town steamy Navy SEAL romance ebook.   • You can ask your local library to carry Carrie Thorne books, so you can download for free. 
  • Sometimes I send out free books to subscribers just for fun, because sharing is caring. 
  • Free advance copies often go out to reviewers. I confess, I have been HORRIBLE about marketing lately, so I haven't sent out review copies with every book. But, if you want to know more, join the mailing list. 
• Do you publish AI slop?
  • Eff. No. Never! In short: I do not use generative AI. In long: ethics, environment, and authenticity are all important considerations. I tried experimenting with AI editing tools, but so far I'm not impressed and the ethical issues are more burdensome than the aid is beneficial, and there is no substitute for humans, nor would I want there to be. It's oddly getting more difficult to not find AI dribbled into some tools, like even basic spell check. I'll have updates in the blog with more details on that. A lot of authors are using more AI for the un-fun parts of publishing, like blurb writing, but, ugh, I write terrible blurbs and am considering it, but would that be selling my soul? Hmmm. We'll see. So... yeah. No AI for me, now and for the foreseeable future, and absolutely no generative AI even a little bit to write any part of my stories, not even the quick "re-write this sentence" tools. 
• Are Carrie Thorne books all steamy? How steamy? 
  • Zesty. Spicy. Love it. So far, yes, all of them. I'd say mainstream level of steam, not erotica. Sometimes a few scenes, sometimes just one. No taboos. Always consenting. Always respectful and fun. 
• What kind of dog do you have? 
  • She's a morkie. That's a maltese yorkie. Snuggly and playful. 8 lbs of morkie mischief. And... ha, um, now a yorkie pup because... he is really cute.
• You write an odd assortment of subgenres. What's up with that?
  • I love reading an odd assortment of subgenres, don't you? Some authors have different pen names for different sub genres, but I've never understood why. As if romantic suspense, small town, and paranormal weren't enough, I'm actively working on regency, fantasy, and thromcom. 
• Some of your posts and some of the odd things you say indicate something... odd. Like your lack of marketing. You don't have much of an online presence. What's the deal? 
  • Yeah. That. Long covid destroyed my brain. I won't dive too deeply into my life story, but I got covid from a patient, while working as a nurse practitioner in 2021. It wasn't even a severe acute case, but that's true for a lot of us long haulers, even those of us with severe long covid (and I hate the word severe, but that shoe fits better than Cinderella's). As I was nearing the end of my 10 days of isolation, I felt like I was recovering from a concussion. It got worse from there. Brain fog. Post exertional malaise. Cognitive fatigue. Cognitive impairments. I hate hate hate hate hate long covid. I've tried so many meds and am in clinical trials. I'm saying this out loud because I know I'm not alone, and because I think it's important to raise awareness. Some of us were left behind when the pandemic ended. 
  • So how can I still write? It's not easy. It's clunkier now, and a lot slower. But it's my quality of life. Writing gives me something to get up and do. It provides a sense of accomplishment. I can't get out much anymore, so I live in fiction.
