We are me. An independent novelist with no interest in collecting your personal data. Any information below is regarding security for you, and for me, as, hey, the internet is a scary, yet interesting place. No worries, I just want you to read and enjoy my books.

This Privacy Policy is pretty generic as so many are. Essentially, if I install any plug-ins, use any services that collect your information, or if your information is obtained, I have done my utmost to ensure that you authorized it, that it will never end up in malicious hands, and always know that I respect you, your privacy, and your time.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Overall – don’t ever give out information that you don’t wish to share. I won’t ask you for personal information such as credit cards or social security numbers. I will do my utmost to protect any information that you do share with me, so if you ever receive phishing or other other nasty stuff with Thorny Books or Carrie Thorne on it – please delete and notify me immediately so I can investigate! Scary stuff that I have no wish to be a part of.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

Somewhere in this website, you may end up on sign up forms, such as for a newsletter or ARC team access, or if you wish to add comments (where unlocked). If you opt in to a mailing list, Thorny Books and all subsidiaries are GDPR Compliant and you can always opt out. Your information is not shared in any marketing or other sense, your information will only be seen by Thorny Books / Carrie Thorne, the email/newsletter servicer, this site used to collect your information, plug-ins as needed to collect your information, and sites that are used to distribute materials like advanced review or giveaway copies.

• Essentially, if I end up with any of your information via a contact form, I have no interest in using it beyond sharing information about Carrie Thorne books with you.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.
